The Western Group worked with LUCE et studio of San Diego, Rich & Associates, Colasanti Construction Services, and Jones Lang LaSalle of Detroit to develop the custom 14,000 square foot woven wire cladding for the College for Creative Studies garage in downtown Detroit.
The six story garage cladding uses two woven wire specs, a 7/16” x 4” 10 gauge triple shot intermediate crimp and a 1” x 4” 10 gauge triple shot intermediate crimp along with TWG’s full attachment system for tensioning screens. There are 70 8’ x 25’ panels on the garage. The panels are stacked two high with specs faded across the garage from the more open spec at one end to the tighter spec at the opposite end. The second component of the project is a 770 square foot ceiling in the 9th-floor boardroom which used a 1/8” x 1” 16 gauge triple shot stainless weave. Installation was done by CASS Sheet Metal of Detroit.
